Help light the night sky during the 2011 holiday season with your tribute lights on the Trees of Life as a thoughtful and meaningful way to honor or remember loved ones, friends, associates or others.

Four Trees of Life are each made of hundreds of white tribute lights.  You can now see them prominently on the rooftops at the National Steinbeck Center in Salinas, the Monterey Marriott and Rabobank in King City.  In Hollister, the tree is at ground-level in Veterans’ Memorial Plaza.

An Expression of Your Remembrance, Love and Appreciation

Your Trees of Life tribute lights are an expression of your remembrance, love and appreciation for family and friends. You also help your community at the same time.

Lights can be designated to honor or remember anyone, you don’t need to have had any connection to a hospice experience. Donations are the source of Hospice Foundation’s support to local hospice and other end-of-life care non-profits. Your dollar stretches across many needs, and indeed has great impact. It supports care that help people live out the final weeks or months of their lives with dignity, peace and comfort at home, while emotional and care support is provided to their families.  Your dollars stretch to help Hospice Foundation fund many non-profit charities, all at the same time.

The suggested minimum donation for each light tribute is $25, with one card sent.

For a $200 donation, you will also receive a beautiful crystal ornament, etched with a nautilus shell image and year 2011.

For a $225 donation, we will engrave the ornament with a name or wording of your choice, up to 18 letters.

A card is sent to the person named in the tribute or, if it is in memory of someone, to his or her family, with an invitation to attend the lighting celebrations.  The names of the donor and the person for whom a light has been named are also recorded in our Book of Tribute Names that is on display at the tree lightings.  The book remains in the lobbies of each of the tree locations throughout the holidays.  The book pages can also be viewed online as they become available.

Tribute light donations fund end-of-life care programs and services in Monterey and San Benito counties.  Twelve non-profits received funding for 2011-12 from Hospice Foundation, totaling $1.4 million.  These funds were raised in part from Trees of Life tribute donations given in 2010.  This brings to $19 million the total amount Hospice Foundation has awarded since its founding in 1997, and that achievement is all due to the generosity of our donors.  You help us fund the end-of-life care charities.
